Research showed that some people sneeze when they’re thinking erotic thoughts and are sexually aroused.

Sneezing occurs when your nose is irritated. This triggers a violent release of air, which reaches 93 mph. Experts who have researched sneezing in greater depth say that such a reaction, when one is thinking sexual thoughts, occurs with people who have a damaged link within their autonomous nervous system. The nervous system sends a signal to their nose. This causes these people to sneeze when they’re sexually aroused. Because sneezing when plucking your eyebrows or due to the influence of sunlight is hereditary, there’s a chance that sneezing when being aroused sexually might also be passed down from generation to generation. Experts think this phenomenon is more frequent than it is generally believed because people feel uncomfortable discussing this problem with their doctors. A nose and ear specialist at Oxford hospital, Dr. Mahmood Bhutta, believes this to be an evolutionary leftover which occurs in the part of the nervous system that we can’t influence. “Sometimes the signals in this system get crossed, and I think this may be why some people sneeze when they think about sex,” Dr. Bhutta explained.

Uncontrolled sneezing after an orgasm

 

Psychologist Dr. Harold Maxwell first encountered a case of ‘sexy sneezing’ when he was visited by a middle-aged man who described his problem as uncontrollable sneezing during every sexual thought. He warned his colleague, Bhutta, of the problem. Together, they found only one similar case when exploring the unusual sneezing in medical literature. They found a story about a 69 year old man who suffered terrible sneezing bouts after every orgasm. The doctors conducted a survey on the Internet and, in a very short time, found 17 individuals who claimed to sneeze uncontrollably every time they're aroused sexually, and three people who confided that they sneeze after reaching an orgasm.
