Our suggestion this time is the TV film Gia from 1998, where Angelina Jolie first became really noticed.

 

 

This is a true story of model Gia Marie Carangi who died because of AIDS in 1986, aged only 26. Gia Marie Carangi, known to the world as simply Gia, turned the whole fashion world of America upside down at the end of the seventies and with her unconventional behaviour, stubbornness, wild character, courage and a perfect body. She became the most sought after model overnight and was on the covers of all sorts of magazines.

 

 

Because she was younger than twenty at the time, fame overwhelmed her. She could not handle it, so she started doing drugs, began acting strangely and even psychotically at times and this ruined an amazingly successful career. She is also known for her open and direct lesbian tendencies, which she exhibited to her friend Linda with great commitment. Her life ended in 1986, when she died of AIDS.

 

 

Naturally, Angelina Jolie was born to portray her. She was just convincing, seductive, fatal, beautiful enough and was also used to nudity. She caught her essence and everything that made her into a cult model wonderfully. Even the lesbian scenes, where she makes out with, showers with and kisses co-star Elizabeth Mitchell, who played Gia’s friend Linda, did not bother her. And what is more, Angelina even got an Emmy for her part and many still see this role as her best work up to date.
