Is It Possible to Become a Parent and Not Undergo Any Changes in Your Sex Life?

Why does parenthood often drive sex out of a relationship? Can we do anything to change that?

Most couples lose interest in sex after they become parents.

Is it possible to become a parent and lead the same sex life as before? Here we are not only referring to the commitment of taking care of a child, which takes a great deal of our time and energy. Poorer quality or even lack of intercourse after birth is a common phenomenon, caused by several factors.

Weight gained during pregnancy

Weight gain is something with which many women are burdened after giving birth. It is true that they lose some weight after birth, but they are far from the shape in which they were before pregnancy. The image they see in a mirror raises doubts whether their partners still find them attractive.

Well, it is difficult to answer the question. However, taking care of your body, which means regular exercise and a healthy diet, will definitely help you regain the lost self-confidence, and you can be sure that you will eventually like the image you see in a mirror, perhaps even more than before.

As everyday exercise requires time, it is of course best you include your partner in household chores and taking care of your child. By dividing work, both of you will be able to see all the sides of parenthood and still have time to be alone, which will definitely improve your sex life.

Postnatal depression

We should pay attention to a serious and increasingly frequent postnatal condition that is indicated by unusual changes in mood and behavior and by loss of sexual desire. In case you find yourself suffering from postnatal depression, you have to seek professional help immediately.

Some men lose sexual desire when their partners become mothers. For unknown reasons, they change their attitude and do not desire them any more. A solution to this problem is open communication. If it bears no fruit, it is recommended that your partner sees a psychologist or psychiatrist, who will be able to find the cause of and the solution to the situation on the basis of expert knowledge.

Loss of libido

Loss of libido is a very common phenomenon during and after pregnancy. There is no reason for alarm because it is regained after the body regains its strength lost due to stress caused by giving birth.

Along with the lack of time, the above factors may truly worsen your sex life and lower the quality of your relationship. Honest and good communication is an effective means for solving such problems. Also, take some time to be alone and enjoy your moments together because in this way you will significantly contribute to a more satisfying sex life and a happier relationship, which is also good for successful parenthood.
