How does it feel to have a “fuck buddy”?

A casual relationship is a relationship between two persons that is primarily or exclusively a physical relationship. This is an extreme mixture of bodily fluids, while the persons keep a ‘cool head’.

In a casual relationship, a phone call immediately after an orgasm is nothing unusual. As the goal is achieved, you can instantly pay your attention to more serious matters. Caressing and similar ‘foolish things’ are a burden. (jlp)

 

Definitions of a casual relationship (also called ‘athletic’ sex)

1.  A fuck buddy or a friend with benefits is a person who you’re sexually involved with, but don’t have a romantic or emotional bond with the person. The people who you have sex with aren’t your friends; although you may like or respect someone, the relationship with a fuck buddy is just a physical relationship.

 

2.  Sometimes a great one-night stand can turn into a series of one-night stands. This later develops into a casual sexual relationship.

 

3.  If you have sex with someone without having any expectations as regards the relationship or dependency, that doesn’t necessarily mean a one-night stand; it can be very exciting to have more sexual experiences with him or her in a certain period

 

4.  There’s no need to feel embarrassed, guilty or hurt; this has to be a simple situation with very few or no complications. If you want to see someone because you’re horny, that’s quite all right. You don’t need emotional or moral support from the person. You have your fiends for that.

Don’t expect that your fuck buddy will provide moral support and have emotional outbursts as his or her personality is mostly focused on the genital area. If you want something more, turn to your friends. (jlp)

 

5.  Apart from nudity and mutual arousal, you don’t have any real intimacy with your fuck buddy. Except from sexual attraction, you and this person may not have anything in common. It’s not the same as meeting a friend to see a movie and then talk about your plans at dinner. According to definitions, a relationship with a fuck buddy is just a physical relationship.

Pure passion has limited shelf life

The aforementioned definitions can be summed up in the concept of passionate love, typical of which is a strong physiological component. It’s denoted by a strong desire for having sex with your partner, that is, the elements of sexual pleasure, arousal, ecstasy and emotional excitement. Passionate love has a time limit, from 6 to 30 months. Later it evolves into friendly love defined by the emotions that forge a close bond between you and your partner. It’s defined by deep loyalty, trust, respect, affection, attachment and intimacy. It’s less intense than passionate love, but more stable and balanced.

A fuck buddy can turn into a person towards whom you start harbouring more complex feelings, but that isn’t usually the case. (jlp)


However, this is an exception to the rule because, as previously said, 5 definitions show a clear picture of the development of a casual relationship: it’s an originally ‘organised’ fun that’s hardly followed by an ‘after-hours’ party.
